I’ve spent alot of time paying close attention to how I feel when I listen to Steve Perry sing.

When asked by my husband, “what IS this obsession with Steve Perry” I struggled to find an answer to satisfy his curiosity … until I figured it out.

Here’s how I explained it to him:

Ya know the “tingling” in the pit of your stomach that you feel when you are watching a scene in a movie that shows a miracle happening … the music swells, the sound of a choir of angels sing and your eyes begin to fill, you get a lump in your throat and you get all goose bumpy in the moment?

It’s that same “VISCERAL SENSATION OF RADIANCE” that I feel whenever I listen to Steve Perry sing.

The sound of his voice equals the beauty and fragrance of a rose garden … only for the ears (was that cheezy?)

Now compound that with actually watching him sing … SEEING the depth of soul in his eyes …. Anyway … that’s my two cents!

Ooh, “visceral sensation of radiance” — very nice!

(And, yes, totally cheesy. But I agree.)

As for depth of soul, check out my essay “Steve Perry Does Not Exist” — we have to keep our feet under us by remembering that for all we know, Steve Perry has the actual depth of soul of a fig newton.

Sings a pretty good game, though, don’t he?
