I Hate Shopping for… Shoes

Can anyone tell me why, apparently, the only shoe styles available to retail buyers are “frump” or “slut”? Or are the buyers purposely stocking shelves with shoes that fit only these categories in a massive multi-player game of Cahootery designed to make me look like an idiot?

Sub-urbane... so close to cool. 
After combat boots went fashion-forward a while back, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that your grandmother’s shoes are now the height of fashion. Maybe your grandmother’s actual shoes, even. Go forth confidently, knowing that those frumpy shoes are both comfy and fabulous. And as for slutty, well, haven’t we always loved tripme/f***me shoes? I only wish I could still wear them.
