Oh, boo hoo HOO!

19Feb10

I would just like to take a moment to say…

I KNOW that I whine about some pretty high-class problems on here. In a world where so many people don’t even have enough food, complaining about having too much clothing comes pretty close to immoral!

I would like to take this moment, therefore, to hype one of my favorite charities, Heifer International (http://www.heifer.org).

It’s really simple: you send them some money, they send a goat to a family in Africa. Or rabbits to India. Or chickens to South America, or whatever.

Who cares? Well, the family from Africa cares a LOT because their children get to drink goat’s milk, good protein there. Plus their mother sells the extra milk to neighbors and buys another goat with the proceeds. She sells more milk, buys more goats… you get the picture.

Here’s an interesting point though — a vegan friend of mine loved the concept but couldn’t contribute because ultimately, one of those goats is going to be dinner SO! Here’s another of my favorite charities: Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org) an organization that rescues and rehabilitates neglected and abused factory farm animals. Hop onto their site and read about the amazing work they do, and pony up! (So to speak, I know, lame. But do it anyway.)

Now! let the whining begin!
